Obi-Wan Kenobi is famous for having called the Tatooine Starport of Mos Eisley a “…hive of scum and villainy.” The same could be said of Craigslist, the free classifieds website where anybody can post just about anything for sale. For us auto enthusiasts, there is no shortage of cool, crazy, and custom cars to pine over owning.
And then there are things like this El Camino-turned-Studebaker nightmare on wheels. It could only come from the Bay Area, a place where no damns have ever been given.
Where do we start? Well once upon a time this was a 1980s El Camino, and while the seller claims it is an ‘89, GM stopped making the car-truck in ‘87. So yeah, there’s that. Then there’s the Studebaker conversion kit, which the seller claims cost him $7,500. We can’t even find a website for these conversions, as we have no way to verify that claim.
To be entirely honest though, the kit doesn’t look…terrible? Perhaps in better light, or from a different angle, this creation might even look passable. But the interior, oh the interior! There is purple and white everywhere except the steering wheel, and the seller says he paid someone $5,500 to do customize the inside of the CaminoBaker.
The posting has since been deleted on the site. Hopefully it was picked up by someone that likes the odd creation. We still have the photos and can bring the beast back to life for you.
To each their own we suppose, and this is definitely a vehicle built from passion. For $15,500, would you want to ride around town in the CaminoBaker?
