Yes, you read that right. This is a 1955 Chevrolet Wagon El Camino Shortie. While hanging out over at Team Chevelle, we spotted this black short box being discussed.
There is a lot to take in with this little car as there is a lot going on. The car has been chopped and has two doors, a bed which is perfect for an ice chest or single loaf of bread, leather seats and even a sunroof. This wago-mino would be the perfect vehicle to replace a Mini Cooper or smart car. Equipped with the factory 283 cubic inch motor and two barrel carburetor, we bet this scoots down the road nicely.
This shortie started life as a 1955, four door wagon. The entire middle was chopped out, leaving only two doors and an extremely short wheel base. The roof was pulled forward as well, leaving a void which we will call the bed. A hole was cut in the roof making room for a stylish sunroof as well. A beautiful set of chrome rims adorns the ride as well. The body appears to be pretty straight, somebody spent a lot of time smoothing out the panels.
While it’s easy to poke fun at a ride like this, there is a big cool factor as well. Only one of these exist in the world, making it very unique. With the short wheel base, this would be a great car to zip in and out of parking lots in a crowded city. Even though it’s only a 283 with a two barrel, we bet it moves nicely being so light weight. But by far the neatest thing is that it’s all based off a 1955 Chevy!
The current asking price is $4500 dollars on Craigslist.
