When it comes to throwing an all-encompassing party for automotive enthusiasts, the staff of Carlisle Events in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, make it look easy. Each year in June, they play host to the Carlisle Chevrolet Nationals, and in its 16th year, the folks at Carlisle events are pulling out all the stops to create a special show that is shaping up to be the best ever.
This must-attend event is happening between June 23 and 25, 2017, and the gates open each day at 7:00 a.m. Spectator admission is $10.00 Thursday through Saturday, and $7.00 on Sunday. There is also a multi-day pass available for $15.00. Like all true enthusiasts, the folks at Carlisle Events want to see the hobby continue, so to get the next generation interested, those under the age of 12-years-old get free admission.
This year, Chevrolet will be setting up shop at the event with special cars and engineers to answer your questions. The Chevrolet spectacle will be located on the Midway, with a cool display all three days of the event. You can check out the latest cars and concepts from Chevrolet, chat with the experts, and so much more. They will also be conducting new vehicle walk-arounds at the stage area throughout the event weekend as well.
Chevrolet will also be bringing the 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE to town as well. This is the same ZL1 1LE that debuted at the New York Auto Show in April, and its appearance marks one of the few public appearances this car has made since that show.
Celebrate 50 Years Of The Camaro
In 1967, Chevrolet debuted the Camaro, and the rest as they say is history. The Chevrolet Nationals will celebrate the Camaro with a 50th Anniversary showcase in Building T. Presented by Camaro Central, cars from all generations will be on display and will vary from bone-stock to fully customized – every car is welcome to be part of this milestone year!
The Chevrolet Nationals will also play host to the most important Camaro ever built – the very first one! Camaro N100001 was the first of 49 pilot cars built by Chevrolet at the Norwood Assembly Plant, and will be the anchor vehicle in the Camaro and Firebird 50th Anniversary display in Building T.
Get Your Race On
All new to the Chevrolet Nationals is a racecar display like no other. The gathering is being put together to celebrate 50 years of the Camaro and the Firebird. The display will highlight vehicles from the IROC Series, drag racing, Player’s Challenge, Trans Am racing and more. If you own a Camaro or Firebird racecar, please contact the folks at Carlisle Events today for consideration to be part of this special display. This display is open to all Camaros and Firebirds from 1967 to the modern COPOs and everything in between.
Bruce Larson, will play host to Nitrofest with his amazing USA-1 funny car. Plus, Bruce welcomes Rocky Roxlau’s Time Bomb Vega, which will be a perfect complement to the Vega roundup that will be taking place on the National Parts Depot showfield.
Bruce will be doing a series of startups during the Friday and Saturday show hours. An even cooler aspect of Bruce’s demonstrations will be that several lucky audience members could be chosen to sit in the car as it’s fired up. Don’t miss your chance to see, hear, and smell the Nitro.
Solid Lifter Legends
The ever-popular Solid Lifter Showroom will be back in Building Y at the 2017 Chevrolet Nationals. This has proven to be a crowd favorite that brings together some of the rarest GM vehicles ever produced. The guys from Super Car Workshop preside over this collection of ultra-rare vehicles throughout the weekend, meaning you can speak directly to the specialists responsible for many of these awesome restorations.
Nova Nostalgia
The National Nostalgic Nova Club is creating a special meet within the Chevrolet Nationals show field. The inaugural Novas at Carlisle “show within a show” will be held throughout the weekend. Fans of the Nova are welcome to be part of this huge Nova show field. Nova classes have been expanded for 2017, and club members are working on recruiting some especially nice cars to display under the north portion of our pavilion. All Novas will be parked in the blue show field, next to Building Y and along one of the main avenues of the fairgrounds.
There are so many things to do at this event that we can’t list them all. But, you can learn more by checking out the Chevrolet Nationals webpage and making plans to attend today. We’ll be there, will you?
