It’s not often a Chevy guy offers his pride and joy Chevelle for sale, and we have never heard of one looking to trade for a Dodge Dart. But, since the 1969 Chevelle is one of the most sought after musclecars on the market, the owner will surely be able to unload the car – one way or another. With its distinctive design and defining lines, there is no chance of missing one of these on the road.
We found this one on the Cornelius, North Carolina, Craigslist page, and had to find out more. We spoke to the current owner of the car, Rich Longo, and got the inside details on this incredibly clean car. Rich has owned the car for approximately 1 1/2 years, and has only put roughly 1,300 miles on it. “I take it to work and run errands with it on the weekends,” Rich told us. “I have also taken it to several car shows and events.” He has never been on any long drives in it, but hopes to be able to take one this summer in whatever replaces this Chevelle.
The ultimate goal is to buy a ’72 Dodge Dart that would match the one he had when he was in high school. He just needs to make space in his garage. To that end, the only trade he is interested in would be for the Dart. Otherwise, cash is king.
This Chevelle has a 350 cubic-inch engine under the hood, with a Muncie four-speed transmission, and a 3.73-geared rearend. It even has an 8-track player, so you can listen to all of your classic favorites! The only potential drawback for a collector is that it is not a true Super Sport.
Rich bought this car without traveling to look at it. “I of course saw pictures, and did have it inspected by a classic car mechanic before I purchased it,” Rich said. “The report was good, and the pictures were great.” He bought it from out of state with an understandable level of nervousness, but breathed a sigh of relief as it was unloaded from the delivery truck. Although it worked out this time, Rich says that he would not be buying a car this way again. The stress and possibility of “buying someone else’s problem,” is not worth it.
