When Chevrolet began offering its iconic Camaro in the Fall of 1966, it became a huge success, selling almost a quarter-million units in each of its first three years. General Motors intended for the Camaro to be a mass-produced competitor to its crosstown rival, the Mustang. The corporation planned on attracting a wide scope of buyers, for a variety of reasons.
