If there is one thing Connecticut-based Callaway Cars knows, it is Corvettes. The twin-turbo Callaway Corvette was an icon of performance in the C4 era, and two decades later Callaway is still churning out some impressive Corvettes. This includes the GT3 C7 race car they’re prepping for the 2014 season, though Callaway is more than a one-trick pony.

Last month Callaway announced that it would be offering a supercharger package for the all-new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups, and this week they released the first pictures of the completed package. While final power numbers remain unrevealed, Callaway has set a package price of $17,395, and has pledged to make available superchargers for the larger 6.2 liter V8 as well.

Initial power estimates from Callaway put the 5.3 liter EcoTec3 V8 engine in the 450 to 540 horsepower range, up from the stock 355 ponies the pickups leave the factory with. That is a fairly modest improvement, though one must keep in mind that these engines were built with hauling and towing, not supercharging in mind.

These engines also included new engine control systems, variable valve timing, and direct injection, which Callaway engineers had to overcome (in some respects) to provide ample power and throttle response. More importantly, many of these same technologies show up on the 2014 Corvette Stingray’s LT1 powerplant, which doesn’t hit dealerships until this fall. Callaway hopes to have a leg up on the competition thanks to their efforts with the supercharged pickups.
