SEMA 2019: New Electronic Gauges For ’66 and ’67 Chevelle

SEMA 2019: New Electronic Gauges For ’66 and ’67 Chevelle

Properly working gauges are a must in any hot rod or restored car. If they are not working correctly, the results could be catastrophic. The folks at Classic Instruments realize this and want to make sure your gauges are up to the task.

At Classic Instruments’ SEMA booth, we found the 1966-’67 Chevelle direct-fit cluster. Not only does it look factory stock and feature a speedometer, tachometer, fuel, oil, temperature, and volt gauges, but the all-electric cluster arrives ready to install directly into the stock dash of a ’66-’67 Chevelle.

“We wanted to create something that is very stock looking, but can work with any engine, ranging from a six-cylinder to an LSX monster,” states John McLeod of Classic Instruments. “It will work with any ECU, electronic, or manual transmission.”

Additionally, the turn signals and high-beam indicator are in the stock locations, and it also features built-in shift and warning lights. Everything needed to install the package is provided in the kit, including all of the necessary sending units and the bezel. It features Classic Instruments’ ZST technology and works directly with ECM or VSS signals, requiring no additional control boxes. The cluster is designed to reuse the stock fuel sending unit or any aftermarket fuel sender (purchased separately). This is accomplished via the built-in Ohm-range selector switch.

“We did an injection-molded housing, not a blow-molded. A single plug goes into the back of the cluster, and all the wires come with it, along with all the sending units. Literally, a bolt-in piece,” says McLeod. “It was our number one most requested cluster. We took the clock out and added the tach with all LED lights.”

The cluster is available in black or gray as well as the Velocity Black Series or G/Stock Series for a little sportier, modified look.

Whether you want to freshen up your stock look or call Classic Instruments to create something custom to make it your very own, this 1966-’67 Chevelle direct-fit cluster offers the perfect seamless installation you desire. This cluster also fits ’66-’67 El Caminos!
