If you grew up in the 1970s, then you know that there was one particular chrome wheel that screamed ‘musclecar’, and nearly everyone referred to that wheel as simply, “Cragars“. The wheel in question, of course, was the chrome, five-spoke Cragar S/S wheel, and you could find it on many classic cars in 14- and 15-inch sizes.
It’s not surprising that today you can still find that same wheel, along with a couple of others that were pretty popular at the time, too, such as the Keystone Classic and the Magnum wheel, both still available as a brand new wheel from Cragar.
Most probably remember the zero, or near zero, offset that was required on rear wheel drive cars back in those days, but today’s cars all have what we referred to a “front wheel drive” offset, meaning the backspacing it a bit larger than the dish itself.
For that application, such as the modern Mustang, Camaro, Challenger, and Charger, Cragar is still putting out some great looking wheels that are available in larger diameters. With many modern musclecars and trucks getting 20-inch and larger diameters, Cragar is keeping with the times and has a few different sizes to accommodate these cars.
But rest assured, while Cragar is keeping with the times, they never forget the roots and you can always revert back to a classic wheel that is reminiscent of decades past. Check out the Cragar website for these and more styles for your musclecar.
