SEMA 2012: QA1 Handles the 5th Gen Camaro as well as Classic GM

QA1's new rear lower control arms for the 5th Gen Camaro are fully boxed to provide the strength needed to prevent flexing during hard cornering and acceleration. Their added resistance to bending compared to stock control arms also lets the shock and spring work more effectively.

Since 1993, QA1 has been supplying rod ends, linkages, and spherical bearings to both the automotive and industrial markets, and in 1998 the acquisition of Hal Shocks began their expansion into the field of suspension dampers, which grew again in 2004 when QA1 purchased Carrera Shocks. Today, they’re a respected name in suspension components, and their 2012 SEMA show display, though packed full of interesting hardware, showed only a small cross section of their ever-expanding product line.

QA1's 5th Gen Camaro struts and shocks are available in single- and double-adjustable flavors to meet your needs and budget. Their coilover design allows for easy ride height adjustment, and a variety of spring rates are available.

We got a close look at their 5th Gen Camaro suspension parts, which offer performance solutions for street, track, and dragstrip use. With so many of these cars now in the hands of their second owner, more and more late model Camaros are getting their stock suspensions upgraded, and QA1 has a full range of parts to reduce chassis flex, increase lateral grip, and help tame wheel hop on acceleration.

Per QA1 customer service manager Dave Kass, “rebound damping has a big effect on wheel hop, and in the 5th Gen Camaro, being able to separate out compression and rebound adjustments with the GD-series stock mount shocks can really help at the dragstrip.”

QA1's 5th Gen Camaro strut tower brace ties the front suspension mounts together, allowing the struts to work with greater precision.

These QA1 front and rear anti-roll bars offer multiple link mounting locations to control the side-to-side spring rate and tune the Camaro's handling.

Don't forget that QA1 also offers a ton of suspension components for vintage GM platforms like the A, G, and F body cars. These front suspension arms are designed to accommodate either stock style springs or an upgrade to coilovers.
