Vic Edelbrock’s E-Force Supercharged Carbon Edition Corvette

Some people would say that the ultimate high-performance Chevy is the current ZR1 Corvette – with 638 supercharged horsepower on tap, it certainly rules the roost in terms of raw grunt, but at $110k-plus, it’s more of a bargain exotic than anything else. Our vote for the title goes to the Z06 Carbon Edition instead. With 505 horsepower from the naturally-aspirated LS7 powerplant, and a full menu of lightweight, go-fast goodies, it’s the pinnacle of Corvette “fast with class” excellence.

So how do you make the best even better? With more power, of course… In the case of this particular Z06, that extra bump is provided by an Edelbrock E-Force supercharger system, which is only fitting because the car is Vic Edelbrock, Jr.’s personal ride. Edelbrock has managed to package the 2300cc Eaton TVS supercharger itself, a high capacity air-to-water intercooler, and long 12-inch intake runners into a kit that fits under the stock hood. Delivering 657 crank horsepower and 582 pound-feet of torque, the system carries a CARB EO number for 50-state smog legality, and is offered with optional powertrain warranty coverage (3 years, 36,000 miles for 2006 models, and 5 years, 100,000 miles for 2007-up).

Of course, since it’s The Boss’ Car, this particular E-Force system is a little different too – in place of the standard black powdercoat on the blower and satin black coil covers, Vic’s Vette is the testbed for Edelbrock’s chrome-like finish, which will be offered as an option on production systems. Before releasing it “into the wild,” Edelbrock wants to ensure it will remain brilliant and maintenance-free over the long haul, so Vic has been racking up the miles on SoCal’s highways and streets.

Yes, product testing is a tedious and unpleasant job, but somebody’s gotta do it!
