Local rod and muscle venues like O’Reilly’s Grand National Roadster Show at the Fairplex in Pomona, California are excellent opportunities to look at some of the area’s coolest rides, but they also offer ample opportunities for socializing and business networking. Events like Pomona’s hot rod fest are made for overall fun, but not everyone who walks the grounds has the best interests in mind.
Stolen cars are retrieved by the authorities all of the time, but as we’ve slowly found, it’s just as easy for rides to get snatched from mass-crowded car shows as it is residential garages.
Pomona is not immune from the epidemic, and their most recent victim to find out about how terrible it is to lose your ride is O’Reilly participant, Danny Ozcodi, whose two-tone ’56 Nomad was stolen from the Sheraton parking lot near the Fairplex event early on January 27th at around 6:00 AM, which is the exact time at which parking lot attendants saw a white van pull in with the Nomad leaving minutes later.
BangShift’s Chad Reynolds talks about the seriousness of car theft, especially within the world of classic car enthusiasts, “This one hits close to home since our own $200 hauler was stolen, and luckily later recovered, back in October. It certainly had nowhere near the value of this Nomad, but it still pissed us off,” says Reynolds of his own car show experience.
Pomona P. D. is currently seeking the community’s aid in finding Ozcodi’s Nomad, and anyone who thinks that they may have a lead is urged to contact the city’s police department right away and bring the cool ’50s wagon back to its rightful owner. The police department can be contacted at (909) 620-2155.
