Camaro5.com, the popular Camaro forum, recently took sales numbers from the major car manufacturers and complied them into easy to view graphics to show the public’s taste in the big three’s muscle car offerings. The chart showing the monthly sales since 2009 tells the rise and fall story of the Ford Mustang against the latest generation of Chevrolet Camaro. This is a trend that is likely to continue in a downward path for the Ford Mustang with many people saying that the designers took a backwards step with the 2015 Mustang.
The public seems to like what Chevrolet has done styling-wise with the 2014 Camaro however. Often referred to as “sleek and sexy” by the car buyer polled in recent studies, the new Camaro has opened a wide lead in sales against the other pony cars in its class.

There are some that still believe that the new Mustang will “sell like crazy” because of the newness of the design.
Most educated consumers complain about the weight of the Dodge vehicles. The sales of the new Challengers seem to be flat with many of those sales going to fleet vehicles like security company car fleets and municipal police fleets. With a 30% drop in sales for the first month of 2014, the trend shows that the Challenger is unlikely to challenge either the Camaro or the Mustang in popularity.

The six-year trend showed that the Ford Mustang had closed the sales gap in 2012 but lost ground in 2013 and is losing more in the first month of 2014 – a trend that most seem to believe will continue.
