We’re not sure it’s an original 454-powered car, but it still looks cool.

In 1970, the Chevelle was the recipient of some sheetmetal and interior revisions. The car was available in sport coupe, sport sedan, convertible, four-door sedan, a couple of wagons, and even the utilitarian El Camino body style. The car is to be sold at the Mecum, Seattle, auction on June 6, but the auction listing doesn’t let us know if this is a real RPO Z15 with the 454 ci engine, but it does have one, and that’s a cool thing to have. Behind that is a turbo 400 transmission, followed by a 12-bolt rear with a 3.73 ratio ring and pinion.

It might not be a true LS 454 car, but the 454 under the hood works for us.

The car does have the 1970-available Cortez Silver exterior color, and the interior features black material everywhere, including the bucket seats. This one does have a floor shifter poking up through the console. Amenities include power steering and power brakes with front discs.

Adding a little of the hot rod vibe is a set of Eagle alloy wheels, and a pair of 3-inch Flowmaster mufflers with under-body exits, and the engine has been dressed up with a set of headers, a serpentine front drive system, electric fans for cooling, and a pair of custom valve covers.

One thing that we see as a major selling point for this car–other than the obvious 454 under the hood, is that we understand that the restoration was just completed in 2015. That time frame, and the fact that everything on the car has either been rebuilt or replaced, means that the car is basically brand new, and should be able to deliver years of enjoyment for the next owner before it needs any repairs. And if you ask us, that makes it a great deal in our eyes.
