Our friends at Spohn Performance have a laundry list of cool suspension parts for GM F-body’s, GM A-body’s, Mustangs, Galaxies, and more, but this video is something from Spohn that we’re guessing you’ve never seen before. It features the installation of a panhard bar on a Tahoe, and it turns out that if you ever have any intention of dropping your Tahoe down into the weeds you’d better pay attention and watch closely!
A panhard bar is something that locates the rear axle side-to-side, and Tahoe’s have one from the factory. Unfortunately though, this video demonstrates that when Tahoe’s are dropped down that the rear axle shifts horizontally to the right despite the factory panhard bar, meaning it is not centered in the frame anymore. In fact, it’s so far over that the right wheel is rubbing the body a bit, but the left wheel is free and clear. The panhard bar from Spohn Performance can fix that. After the new Spohn panhard bar is in and adjusted all is well. Both rear wheels of the Tahoe clear the wheel wells easily.
Spohn Performance is a specialist in offering suspension pieces to help car handle better whether it be cars that go down the drag strip, the road course, or ones that just like to look good while rolling slow like our Tahoe video shows. Their BLOG is something you should check out early and often as they sometimes put sweet discount codes up!
