If you’re looking to get into some serious racing this Spring, you may want to take a look at this deal that is posted over on Racing Junk. A cool $80K will get you a National Record Holder 1969 Camaro ZL-1, legal for both SS/A and SS/B competition on the NHRA circuit.

The fully sorted, 8-second car (8.95 @ 151.14 mph) weighs in at 2840 pounds without driver and sports an extensive list of top line components, from a brand new 4-speed G-Force clutchless transmission, to a Gary McGlasson-built motor with only four passes on it.

This ZL1 was built by Gary Jennings Race Cars Built in Nashville, TN, with a 4130 alloy steel roll cage, Lamb Components front brakes and Mark Williams rear discs, a Racepak V300 data recorder, 16-volt batteries and an aluminum fuel cell with new fuel lines.

The motor is claimed to provide 870 hp or better, using Burns custom stainless steel Y-headers, Gary Hettler cylinder heads and intake, a Wynnberg crankshaft and Oliver connecting rods in a Chevrolet race block.

With all the fuss from the contemporary ZL1’s announcement at the Chicago Auto Show, this is a chance to own one of the original 57 ZL1’s that were originally built. You can bet that the new ZL1’s will be showing up at the strip not long after deliveries start in 2012. Having significant experience with this one is going to be helpful in consistently beating those young pups.

An extensive list of spare parts is also available, along with a trailer and other team equipment. Check out the ad and get in touch with Billy Boyd or Tony Mandella if you’re ready to talk Turkey. Act soon, though. The offer apparently is only good for another few days.
