The Feely family in Phoenix, AZ recently had a Ford pickup crash into their yard and land in their swimming pool. They must have been born under an unlucky star as it’s the third time such an incident has happened! According to the news release on AZFamily.com, the truck landed upside down in the Feely’s swimming pool around 1:30am on a Friday morning. The driver missed a turn and plowed through the retaining wall of the Feely’s yard ending up in the swimming pool upside down with the truck partially submerged.
James Feely said he and his wife were showered with glass and bricks that flew through their bedroom window. He then heard the driver groaning and watched as he managed to get himself out of the truck. “I’m surprised [the driver] is alive,” Feely said. “My reaction was, ‘Nobody lived through that. ’ About three-quarters of the cab of the truck was under water.”
The driver was a 32-year-old man and according to police was drunk at the crash. The driver’s name was not released, but in a strange twist he asked police to find the passenger of his truck whom he believed might still be in the pool. Police searched the truck and the swimming pool, but no person was found. Police stated that the Feely’s were quite lucky as had the truck not gone into the pool it would have plowed directly into their bedroom.
The Feely’s had a similar occurrence with a pickup truck in 2007, and in 2009, a motorcyclist was killed when he hit the block wall.
