There is nothing more frustrating than to walk outside to find out that your car has been stolen, but when it is a ’72 Camaro with pieces for a prosthetic leg inside, it becomes a tragedy. KAST 12, the local ABC station in San Antonio, Texas, covered the plight of Kevin Higgins’ stolen Camaro. Higgins is an amputee, who spent nearly six years and $20,000 restoring the car, only to have it stolen by soulless car thieves March 19th from a downtown parking lot in San Antonio.
Higgins is a normal hard working guy, who is passionate about his girls and his Camaro. With Higgins main mode of transportation gone and the pieces that allow him to attach his prosthetic leg gone with it, life becomes incredibly difficult. A friend allowed Higgins to borrow a car, but he is now dependent upon a wheelchair for mobility.
He had just purchased the custom-made piece for his prosthesis, and it would cost him thousands of dollars to replace it. Although he has one remaining attachment, for sanitary reasons he cannot use his leg like he had in the past; he compared it to wearing the same sock everyday.
Higgins is offering a $1,000 reward for any information leading to the recovery of his car. For anyone who have seen the bright red ’72 Camaro or knows its whereabouts, they are urged to contact the San Antonio Police Department.
