After boxing and refinishing the frame, it was with a front coil over suspension, using polished stainless control arms and with dropped spindles, as well as rack and pinion steering. The rear end was updated to carry a nine-inch axle.
Sorting through the reflections under the hood, you’ll find a professionally built LS6 454 cui V8 engine. Based on a 4 bolt main bearing block with GM big rods and GM square port heads, power is driven out through a Turbo 400 automatic transmission to the 9-inch rear that is fitted with 3.50 ratio gears.
Major body improvements were achieved via a three-inch chop, front fender extensions, custom front and rear roll pans, a custom stainless steel grille and a healthy dose of smoothing, which saw the drip rails, handles, front and rear bumpers and tail lights go for recycling.
With three days to go, bidding has not made it past the seller’s reserve bid. Currently stalled at just over $30K, you might expect the action to pick up as the auction comes to a close on Sunday afternoon. There may be some sneaky snipers waiting to pick up this show truck.
