Nickey has been a household name for car guys for generations. Nickey Chevrolet, creator of big-block Camaros, Novas and Chevelles, created extreme strip and street cars in the 1960s and 70s. At Mecum’s Original Spring Classic Auction held at the end of May, two cherry Nickey Camaros are up for grabs. A 1967 Nickey 427 SS Camaro will hit the auction block along with a 1970 Nickey Camaro Z28. Thanks to a YouTube video we can get a sneak peek at these beauties.
The Nickey 427 SS Camaro is being advertised as “the car the factory wouldn’t make.” This 1967 brings classic looks with 427 prestige. The car is fully documented and sports all of its original California sheet metal. As one of the premier cars of the auction, we’re sure this car will sell for a pretty penny. It will probably go to a classic-muscle car guy who wants to really feel the power when he hammers down the accelerator on the off chance that he takes it for a drive.
The 1970 Nickey Camaro Z28 is one of the most historically significant Nickey Camaros in the country. This is because the car comes complete with its original order forms, build sheet and finance documents from the first owner. This rare find will definitely be interesting to those gear heads who are into historical documentation. The two Nickey Camaros are from the Mike Guarise Nickey Collection.
Going on its 24th year, Mecum’s Original Spring Classic Auction is set to take place from May 17-22 in Indianapolis, Indiana. If you’re interested in attending to bid, or just watch the show, the Nickey Camaros will auctioned off on Saturday May 21st.
