Many Claim To Be Bad Ass; This ’55 Post Just Backs It Up!

The owner of this blown and alcohol-injected, ’55 Chevy post said it best when describing the nature of the custom shoebox, “People can claim they have a bad-ass car and there are a lot of bad-ass cars out there, but when this car runs it speaks for itself.”

Those are our sentiments exactly; when a nice rod is built, it just is. And so is the case with this ’56 Chevy out of Mahwah, New Jersey. We’re glad that the owner summed it all up for us, and with these kinds of statistics we can see why.

The alcohol-injected, post sedan is running a blown, Chevy 509 motor chasing a T-400, “reverse manual” transmission. The car is also built on a round-tube chassis with chromed four-link suspension, a Ford 9-inch rear, Mark Williams gears and a set of 35-spline axels. The car also features a 4-inch exhaust system with mufflers.

The New Jersey Chevy is an all-steel car with fiberglass bumpers and features power windows. Though the owner has never ran it at the drags and is thus unable to provide us with an estimated track time, they have indicated that the car puts out around 1350bhp and runs as firm as an angry bull on steroids.

The owner of the pro-streeted ’56 is considering an eventual trade for a ’32-’34 pro street, big block-powered Ford coupe, but for now, the post sedan that touts the blown 509 mill has too many features and extras to even list in the tight space of this article.

No matter what the circumstance, it’s always encouraging to see rodders’ continued interest in standard-optioned, Tri-Five shoeboxes for use on custom platforms.
