You might not know the name of Ronnie Presnell, but after you watch this video it will be hard to forget him. Presnell was involved in a traffic accident in 1998 after a parts delivery truck crossed the center line while talking on his cell phone. Presnell was in a coma for 6 weeks, and woke up to find out that he would no longer be able to see. The accident had left Ronnie blind.
When others might just of laid around the house and asked everyone to feel sorry for them, Presnell wanted a project. Presnell instead decided to build a shed, build a bird feeder, and restore a ’68 Camaro. That’s not a misprint, Presnell without any eye sight restored a ’68 Camaro. Which begs the question… What’s your excuse!?
Even though the reporter got the year of the Camaro wrong, (she claims it is a ’65) here’s some background on Presnell and his Camaro.
Things haven’t slowed down since ’98 for the Mooresville, North Carolina man. Presnell had the opportunity yesterday to take his very own restored ’68 Camaro for a lap around Charlotte Motor Speedway. “I always sat in the grandstands and wondered what it would be like to do that. Now that I’m blind, I’m more determined to want to do it! And that’s what I’m hear to do.
Might we add it’s a pretty damn good burnout to when he leaves the pits. After the lap Ronnie was all smiles and was even joking around with his passenger NASCAR driver Kenny Wallace. “I thought we was going to have to come in and make an adjustment on Kenny. We were going down the backstretch at about 130 and he started yelling ‘slow down my heart’s skipping,”
According to reporters the car never broke 20mph but honestly who cares! Nice work Ronnie, you certainly have inspired all of us here at powerTV.
