
There’s no getting away from the pro-touring movement, and with just about every car under the sun getting the heavy-duty suspension/lowered ride height/big wheel treatment these days (including imports), some say why not hook up a pick-em-up?
A couple of weeks ago, we brought you the story on some of the sickest Novas we could find via the pro-touring.com website. The reaction we received from that article was so immense, that we just had to do a follow-up. This time, we feature the finest examples of full-size Chevy and GMC trucks. For fun, we even included an El Camino and the ultimate S-series truck we’ve ever laid eyes on.
Originally, trucks were work horses generally reserved for farmers and rednecks, but overtime, their styling and creature comforts have improved and someone eventually had the fortitude to try something different. We’re glad they did. Variety is the spice of life, after all.
Now it’s not just about simply lowering your truck and throwing on a huge set of hoops. Any moron can do that. The idea is to get the nose-heavy truck to grip and handle in the corners like a sportscar. Well, maybe not like a sportscar, but an incredibly well-handling muscle car at least. Replacing most of the suspension and dialing it in is key if you’re serious about making your truck handle.
Thanks to the advancement in modern suspension technology and a massively supportive aftermarket, it’s now possible. Oh, imagination and creativity also goes a long way too. So for you truck builders out there, feast your eyes on this collection of purpose-built haulers.
