What’s in a shoe? Well according to Italian writer and shoe design analyst Andrea Silvuni, the same thing that’s in a car. But it’s not just about the design of both commodities that make them similar in Silvuni’s mind, according to GM News. It’s also about the personality they convey and the European fashionista teamed up with Chevrolet and made some pretty interesting comparisons between modern Chevy models and popular shoe designs to prove it.
When it comes to shoes, there are generally two distinct kinds of people; the ones who own only a few pairs and have a set purpose for each, and the kind that, well, can’t pass up a “good deal” when they find one, cluttering their closet with numerous pairs for no set reason. But if you were to ask Silvuni about this, she’d open your eyes to a whole new distinction you may not have even considered before; one based on personality and lifestyle rather than number of pairs.
“In the same way Chevy Bel Air’s stood for luxury and power and showed you were doing well, rocking your Italian designer heels will reveal your inner power and provide others a window into your personality,” Silvuni said in the GM News release. “No matter the type of shoe, there are always reasons behind that choice and how they convey who we are and what our mood is.”
So what does your shoe/Chevy choice say about you?
Well, according to the “design language” Chevrolet and Silvuni came up with, if you’re a flip-flop kind of person, you exude the laid back, fun-loving, convention-challenging personality of the Chevy Spark. If ballet shoes are more your style, you express the no frills, comfortable in any environment, sweet personality of the Sonic. Prefer the low-healed, sturdy leather design of Brogue shoes? Then you are linked to the conservative, reliable, trusting personality of the Chevy Malibu.
The shoe/vehicle comparison doesn’t stop with the relatively low-key models, either. GM News also lays out the comparisons between athletic and powerful cross training shoes and the Chevy Equinox, as well as the no nonsense, sure-footed, reliable design of wedge or platform heels to the Cruze. And if you’re into those daring, confident with a wild streak kind of stiletto heels, well, that’s where the Camaro and Corvette come in.
Shoes and cars take you through all kinds of walks of life, so you better have the ones that fit your perfectly. Take it from a girl who races in heels that match her car, you can never be too careful about getting the right fit.
