The folks at COMP Cams have begun working on a series of videos for the engine builders, whether you are a home garage engine builder or professional race engine builder. In this weekly installment of our Thursday Tech Tips, we wanted to present COMP Cams’ video on getting the proper rocker arm geometry by determining the correct pushrod length.
A pushrod that is too long or too short can cause some serious engine damage. The #1 killer of rocker arm life is valve train instability. The last thing anyone wants is to damage or break a rocker arm in a freshly rebuilt engine.
If you are under the misconception that all pushrods are the same and length doesn’t matter as long as the pushrod moves the rocker arm up and down, then this video will be a learning experience for you. If you already understand that when it comes to pushrods “SIZE MATTERS”, then this video will show you how the pros at COMP Cams determine the correct pushrod length.
