When you work at a high-end race engine builder’s shop you get to play with some pretty cool gear, and the lucky guys at Thomson Automotive, in Wixom, Michigan get to toy with top shelf LSX parts every day. This video we found on YouTube from Thomson Automotive features an LS7 on the dyno with one of the amazing Harrop IR intake manifolds that features eight individual throttle bodies and gives each of the LS7’s hungry cylinders its own dedicated air supply. Not only does Harrop claim that this manifold can increase the power output of your engine by up to 30%, but it is also has the looks of nothing short of a piece of automotive art work.
One of the best parts of this video is that we actually get a look at the Harrop manifold in operation. As each of the eight throttle bodies opens when they crack the throttle you can’t help but feel like you are looking straight down the throat of a very angry and avaricious beast that might just take your hand off if you get too close. We don’t know any specifics on the internals, heads, or cam specs of the LS7 featured in the video, but we do know that the engine relies on one of Holley’s powerful standalone EFI systems to keep the fuel and spark where they need to be, and that the brute pumps out 670 crank horsepower and an even 600 pound feet of torque.
