Video: The “Dead End” 1953 Chevy 2-Door

From the guys at eGarage ^[1] comes this awesome video feature on the “Dead End” 1953 Chevy 2-door. This Chevy belongs to Eddie Padilla from Campos Custom Fab, and the car has become something of a project car for the crew at Dead End Magazine ^[2]. The car’s story starts when Campos finally managed to pick up the car from a family member who had the car sitting out in the elements wasting away, after a whole lot of asking.

“We were just going to build something normal,” says Padilla in the video. “But it just became one of those things where we said‘normal ain’t cool.” The result is exactly what Padilla and his friends were aiming for, and definitely not “normal” by any stretch of the term. The Chevy’s uber-slammed stance is thanks to Accuair ^[4]’s innovative E-Level air management system ^[5] that can adjust the ride height of the airbags with the touch of a button. The “un-normal” theme continues under the hood, where an unexpected powerplant resides – a carbureted LS engine.

This custom isn’t necessarily “done” yet, but Padilla says that it’s hard for him to think about not being able to drive it for several weeks while it’s in “paint jail” – as he would call it. He says it will eventually head for the body shop to be finished up, but for now he is completely content to drive the car how it is and enjoy it at every chance he gets. The look and attitude of the Dead End Chevy is so right-on that we’re almost thinking he should leave it just as it is. What do you guys think (leave your comments below)?
