Corvette Racing employs a number of drivers during the racing season including two Olivers; Beretta, and Gavin. While these teammates sometimes share cars in addition to names, the two also branch off into other racing series. Recently it was announced that Oliver Gavin would be racing in the 2011 Grand Am Series for Banner Racing, driving the #07 Chevy Camaro.

The season doesn’t start for a few weeks yet, but you can be sure Gavin is out practicing hard every day. We stumbled across some video of him doing some nighttime practice laps in the #07 Banning Racing Camaro. Looks like the competition better watch out.

It’s important to note that Gavin’s work in the American Le Mans Series will still take precedence over the Grand Am Series. But Gavin will be able to make a majority of the Rolex Series races and will share the Camaro with Gunter Schaldach. The Camaro has been built by famed race car builders Pratt and Miller, but Gavin won’t be the only Corvette Racing alumni in the Rolex Series.

Teammate Jan Magnussen will be driving against Gavin in the Stevenson Motorsport Camaro. Yes, the two Corvette Racing members will be competing against each other in Camaros. They will be joined on the field by Mustangs, Challengers, Porsches, BMW’s, and plenty of other worthy opponents. But we’ll be watching the heated battles between these two very closely. Judging from this video, Magnussen certainly has his work cut out for him.
