Some people might consider the term “redneck” as disparaging or insulting. Others wear it as a badge of pride, not knowing or caring about the negative connotations. Whatever the case, a huge subculture has sprang up around “rednecks,” from Jeff Foxworthy’s comedy to the Summer Redneck Games. Say what you will about rednecks though, they are nothing if not inventive. Take this video of a homemade go-kart, powered by a small-block Chevy and having absolutely nothing in the way of safety features. Ya might be a redneck if……you dared to try and drive this dangerous contraption.
We really don’t have a damn clue what this thing used to be, though it may have been a 70’s Chevy pickup at some point. The engine is rough, and for whatever reason the driver has to hold up a wire or cord when he starts to get on it. It might even be the fuel line, come to think of it, as the fuel tank is nothing more than a plastic gas can you buy at Wal-Mart for like five bucks.
We bet that ancient, underpowered, smokey 350SBC sucks down the gas too, despite a lack of, seatbelts, airbags, steel body or any sort of protective measures whatsoever. It’s an engine, seats, and wheels on half the frame of an old truck. Dangerous, stupid, slow…it is all that and more.
But don’t it look fun?
