Video: Hot Wheels Camaro Giveaway Via Twitter Vending Machine

[1]Interacting with your audience via social media is a crucial part of any  business today, especially with recent technological advances. Let’s face it, if you aren’t an active part of Facebook or Twitter you’ll probably end up falling through the cracks with all of the other unsuccessful businesses out there. With that said, there are also right and wrong ways to do social media. Let’s just say that this next video is winning at social media through and through.

Just when you thought that social networking couldn’t go any further, it did. Chevrolet [2] and Hot Wheels [3], in conjunction with “integrated brand activation” company TrojanOne [4] (no, we have no idea what integrated brand activation is either…) have extended the possibilities once again. In an attempt to promote the new Hot Wheels edition Camaro [5], they have come up with a vending machine, known as “The Hot Wheels Camaro-matic Trending Machine.”

The collector die cast dispenser is operated entirely via Twitter. Guests at the Canadian International Auto Show could receive one of two cars by simply tweeting at the machine and tagging their location. We would not be surprised to see these toys going for big bucks on an eBay account near you in coming weeks.

Everybody is happy about free stuff!

It seems as if this bold marketing ploy turned out to be a quite successful one. According to AdWeek [7], this promotion tripled the amount of followers on @HotWheelsCanada in just 10 days. This just goes to show you how integrated technology has become in our everyday lives.
