How long did you have to wait for your last engine to be built? Hot Rodders of Tomorrow is an organization that promotes the interest of young people in automotive arts and technology. Hedman Hedders is a sponsor of the program, along with many other aftermarket parts companies.

Through a series of nation wide engine building challenges, teams of high school students can gain the opportunity to complete in the national finals, held each year at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

The current defending champions, a team from Loara High School, in Anaheim, CA, are looking forward to keeping their reigning title this year. Since practice makes perfect, the team had a practice session this past weekend in front of the Hedman Performance Group’s midway display at the recent NMRA/NMCA event in California.

The weather was hot and so were the boys and girls from Anahiem. The team already owns the national record for tearing down and rebuilding a small block 350 Chevy engine. Their record setting time is just about 25 minutes. They also put one back together last Sunday, in a mere 2 minutes and 47 seconds.

So, the next time you engine builder says he can’t get to your job for months yet, just point him to the video below and ask him what the problem is.
