Why go all the way to Germany for track testing? “You can accomplish more in one lap around the ‘Ring than you can running probably a dozen tracks in the U.S.” says David Mikels, energy and powertrain integration engineer for the Cadillac ATS. GM engineers used the famed “North Loop” where you can experience just about every road and track condition imaginable.
Most of the video is dominated by the ATS screaming through the Nurburgring, as engineers take a chance to explain what exactly the car is experiencing at different parts of the track, like getting airborne or going around one of several tight carousel corners. These videos certainly are raising our expectations for the ATS, and our hopes that Cadillac may actually be able to stand toe-to-toe with BMW.
