For all of you thrill seekers out there, you should really take a look at Hill Climb events. These drivers race as fast as they can up a hill with usually no protection outside what they have inside the vehicle. Very often drivers will be staring at a rock wall on one side and a 100 foot drop off the side of a cliff on the other.
Recently The 2011 Speed by Spectre 341 Challenge hill climb, was held in Virginia City, Nevada. A total of 40 cars took to the 5.2 mile course. When it was all over Lou Giglotti’s ’10 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 had the overall best time. Lucky for us Lou attached a camera to film his insanely fast lap. Gigliotti is a three-time SCCA National Champion and you can easily tell that fact while you watch the video.
Chevrolet was well represented at the event as Chevrolet took home four of the top ten fastest times. The LG Motorsports ‘Vette completed the 5.2 mile course in 3:14.4 with an average speed of over 96 miles an hour. He was almost a full second faster than the 2nd place finisher.
Think you got what it takes to do this? Well the event was such a success that they have already booked the hill for the 3rd annual event on June 15-17 2012.
