When Custom Performance Racing (CPR) first opened thier doors in 1977, they only offered some rotating assembly items like camshafts and cranks. Over the years they have added several highly specific engine components to their inventory, eventually becoming Gardena, California’s place to go for full engine rebuilds.
CPR demonstrates their talents once more with this ProCharged, LSX powered 5th-Gen Camaro. The car currently belongs to shop owner, Martin Marinov. As seen in our featured video, Marinov and CPR’s ProCharged LS powertrain brings the late-model Camaro to a scream on the chassis dyno. In fact, the blown LSX powered late-model makes 761.9bhp with 699.76 feet pounds of unforgiving torque to the tires, whoa!
These numbers can be clearly seen on the dyno’s results, but if you don’t believe your own eyes then ask Martin Marinov, “Lookout ZR1 Corvette…Don’t mess with [a] lil’ ol’ Camaro…[You] might just get smoked like a GT500 Mustang…”
CPR’s custom built LSX features their own custom grind, hydraulic cam, titanium valves, valve springs, and even port and polishes their exclusive LSX heads. Furthermore, the Camaros breathing is aided by ProCharger, making this Camaro the real deal.
According to Marinov, the black Camaro is as driveable as it is flat out powerful, maybe a little too powerful, “We had an axle that was rated for 1,000 horsepower, but it broke on new tires during the third pull at Irwindale the last time they were open. We have someone who custom makes our axles and the new ones should be able to accept up to 1,700 horsepower…”
“[It’s] the daily driver for the horsepower connoisseur. [It] runs on pump gas and I drive it every day!”
Marinov also informs us that the ProCharged 5th Gen has less than 8,000 miles on it, so that the lucky Camaro owner is sure to still be driving a brand new car once its new, custom axles are in place.
CPR’s Camaro is like new and it’s street driveable, and for the right bid you can own a whole new generation of pony car cool!
