The fourth Generation Camaro will be forever known as the “Catfish Camaro” for quite obvious reasons. We’re going to go ahead and assume that the owner of this Camaro ZL1 missed the memo and picked up a fifth generation by mistake… or driving it into six feet of water wasn’t his intention at all.
Upon going on a cruise on a sunny Houston day the man behind the wheel wound up taking his Camaro ZL1 to the last place he would have expected – the bottom of a pool. Investigators on the scene say that the driver of the car was simply driving too fast and lost control. As a bystander put it, “He lost control, and I think he took his traction control off.” He then jumped a curb, went through a fence, and veered his 4000 pound boat into a large community pool.
580 horsepower ready for disposal in combination with a novice driver is just begging for trouble. It may look as if this guy is extremely unlucky, but at least it wasn’t a tree on the receiving end of his lack of skills. Luckily there was nobody in or near the pool to be injured. The driver also was able to escape through an open window to avoid any harm.
Sources say that the tow truck driver had to dive under water to hook up the crane – the Camaro was then lifted up over the fence to be shipped off to the scrap yard. When all was said and done the driver’s insurance was left responsible for all damages. We wonder what an act like this will do that that premium of his. One thing is for sure – he will have one hell of a story to tell his grandkids that they’ll never believe.
