Some people bought the new Camaro for the history. Others bought it for the power and the looks. Still others bought the Camaro simply so they can hoon it and show off. And we’re all in favor of showing off and enjoying your car in a responsible, safe way. Unfortunately, not everybody got that memo, and for one poor Camaro owner, the cost of his hooning was watching his Camaro SS convertible be engulfed by flames, as this YouTube video shows. Warning: there is some NSFW language involved, as you might expect…

We don’t get a chance to see the accident itself, where the Camaro driver somehow beached his car on a parking lot island. According to the video description and captions, the driver had spent a good deal of time trying to free the car to no avail. He did, however, succeed in getting the underlying brush and grass nice and hot with his car’s exhaust, and it didn’t take long for the flames to take hold of the grass, and eventually the car itself.

The smoke is evident from the onset of the video, and apparently the Camaro driver felt he could get the car free even as smoke enveloped the car. We see the first licks of flame around the 1-minute and 30-second mark, but apparently that did not stop the driver from diving back into his flaming Camaro. It apparently took five big guys to pull the distraught driver from his car (around the 2-minute mark) even as his wife screamed for him to let the car be.

Firefighters arrive at about 4 and a half minutes in, and the fire is quickly put out. But as the video guy points out, the Camaro isn’t as cool a coffin as one might think, and there is NO reason to dive into a flaming car short of saving a family member or an original copy of the U.S. Constitution. It sucks that this guy lost his car, but maybe he’ll invest into some performance driving lessons and a fire extinguisher before he buys his next muscle car.
