We see videos of classic muscle cars doing burnouts on almost a daily basis. But how many diesel-powered Chevelle burnouts have you seen? Probably not many. Lucky for you, however, that’s exactly what we have to share with you today, and all we have to say is EPIC! Check it out in the video above.
Throw a classic big-block or even a modern LS-based engine into a 1968 Chevelle, and you’ve got yourself a cool yet fairly predictable ride. Stuff a 12V 5.9-liter Cummins diesel engine in that Chevelle, however, and you’ve got yourself one unique beast on wheels.
Owned by Jesse Baudro, this diesel Chevelle has been around for a little while and even appeared in another burnout video last September. But the car has changed a little bit over the last several months and apparently that’s what everyone wanted to see because this time around, the most recent burnout video has already gotten 10 times as many views as the first in just under two weeks.
Dumping spent (and not so spent) diesel fuel out of short pipes that exit right behind the front wheel wells, this ’68 Chevelle is the perfect contender for a burnout contest, stirring up both black and white smoke as it makes its 100-foot spinning trek down the back road. And the sound, well, it certainly isn’t your typical big-block growl, but we have to admit the diesel truck sound emanating out of the classic muscle car serves this particular Chevelle well.
The only thing left to add is some hefty mud flaps!
