The annual Del Mar Goodguys Nationals is always one of the most popular events in Southern California, and rightfully so! The event draws in over 2,000 hot rods, customs, and classics thru ’72. This year’s spring event was held on April 1 – 3 and was a huge success.
One of the main attractions of the Goodguys events is the Autocross portion of the events. This year’s autocross featured some amazing rides taking to the tight course. One of which was Camaro Performers Magazine’s ’68 Camaro driven by the editor of the magazine Nick Lacata. The Camaro, dubbed “Bad Penny,” is obviously a handful to drive during the run.
But the video sites a recent suspension upgrade as making a big difference in the way the Camaro handled the tight corners. Autocross really becomes a very delicate balance of power and handling. To much of either and not enough of the other, and you won’t be able to set a quick time. Being able to find that balance between the two is crucial to the success of the car on the course.
If you have ever wondered what it would be like to drive a ’68 Camaro around a very tight and small autocross course then this video is for you!
