What to do with old tires once they are past their useful lifespan? The proper thing to do is to bring them to a tire recycling facility, although we know all too many backyards loaded with old rubber just rotting away. There is another solution though, and it is as clever as it is entertaining. We like to call “atmospheric reconditioning”. The rest of the world calls it badass burnouts.
Over in Norway at the annual American Car Meet, one fellow decided it was time for his old tires to go. So he swapped them on to the rear of his big-block powered ‘65 Chevelle, and proceeded to light ‘em up.
With an 11:1 compression ratio, a TH400 transmission, and a GM 12-bolt rear end, this ‘65 Chevelle is ready for whatever gets thrown its way. According to the YouTube post, the driver had an old set of front tires he needed to do away with, so he decided to obliterate them into tire smoke with his Chevelle.
And obliterate he does. This video is over two minutes of sheer tire-shredding bliss, and we love every second of it. It’s even better than the owner is from Norway, a cold-as-hell country with a burning love for American muscle. Those Scandinavians know how to do burnouts right.
