The Corvettes Of Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach 2017

titleWe love Barrett-Jackson.  These guys really know how to put on a party and they usually attract some of the best Corvettes in the land as a bonus. An afternoon watching the cars roll through the block is thrilling, whether in person or on the tube.

Between the four auctions–Scottsdale, Palm Beach, Connecticut and Las Vegas–Barrett-Jackson auctions boasts over 500,000 people in attendance. If you want to see big wig builders and buyers come out in droves, this is your chance.

Let’s take a look at some of the big kahuna Corvettes that will be up for grabs.

BJ 1962

Lot #722 1962 CHEVROLET CORVETTE LS3 CUSTOM CONVERTIBLE

This looks to be a spec car built for the show and it packs all the restomod goodies you could possibly dream of. We love it, but would swap the wheels out for a set no bigger than 18 inches in heartbeat. The Hot Wheels look is popular with pro-sports guys and rock stars and that’s probably who’ll buy this car so we get that. Similar restomod Corvettes have recently brought over $200K.

According to Barrett-Jackson, “This one-of-a-kind restomod ‘Vette is built with the best components. Under the hood, it’s equipped with a new GM high-performance LS3 500hp engine and a new GM 4L70E automatic transmission with a full polished pulley system, billet Corvette valve covers, polished heads and air conditioning. With stainless headers and exhaust system, this rolling piece of art sits on a custom-built Art Morrison chassis with large front and rear sway bars, Wilwood polished 6-piston disc brakes and Schott billet wheels with red line tires.

The breathtaking body is finished in PPG High Metallic Silver on a laser-straight concours-level body with many one-off fabrications, like a smooth firewall and engine bay. It sports a ’58 Vette grille with a molded and power-lift hood. The distressed red leather interior features power windows and touchscreen audio. The seats were moved back 3″ and it also comes with a matching hardtop.”

1967 red 1

Lot #738 1967 CHEVROLET CORVETTE 427/390 CONVERTIBLE

Little red Corvettes never goes out of style.  This 1967 big block roadster looks to be a real sweetheart of a car. We dig restomods, but a really pure, original car is hard to beat. It’s won multiple NCRS awards and is ready for summer cruising. Red paint with redline tires are the cherry on top of the sundae.

Here’s the cheat sheet, “Lot #738 – In exceptional restored condition, this Corvette is powered by a 427ci turbo-jet V8 with 390hp and a 4-speed manual transmission. Finished in Rally Red, features include red vinyl bucket seats, Rally wheels with red line tires, side-pipe exhaust and AM/FM radio.

It includes the original owner’s manual, original protection plan booklet, original Chevrolet order copy, NCRS Top Flight Award, NCRS scoring summary sheet and NCRS blue ribbon. Please note, the Trim Tag was replaced during the restoration.”

1956 1

Lot #686 1956 CHEVROLET CORVETTE 265/255 CONVERTIBLE

A really special ‘Vette has qualities that might be minuscule but when added together, separate the great cars from merely good ones.  This dual quad, 1956 Corvette is crisp and fresh with a bundle of awards to support those aforementioned words.  Zora Friggin’ Duntov even signed the dash. A honey of a car. We even love the tall stance and skinny bias-ply tires.

Check out the cheat sheet, “Lot #686 – One of only 3,467 built, this very special Corvette has been restored and presented in a museum-like state. It has been stored in a climate-controlled private collection since completion. Over the years, it has been a perpetual show-winner, including the Willistead Classic of Canada. It was judged personally by the Father of the Corvette, Zora Arkus-Duntov at the Meadow Brook Hall Concours d’Elegance, where he hand-selected it for the blue ribbon and prestigious Lion Award.

Thereafter, it was invited to exhibit at SAE Expo to honor Arkus-Duntov and three other notable engineers. It was there that Arkus-Duntov signed the dashboard, which is fully documented by the press, letters and photos that accompany the car. The beautiful red paint, white soft-top and correct whitewall tires are simply stunning. The rich red interior complements the exterior perfectly. The nicely detailed engine compartment is home to its 265/255hp V8 engine with two 4-barrel carburetors. The engine is coupled with 3-speed manual transmission. The car has been recently serviced, detailed and a received a complete new exhaust system.”
