Some of you are probably thinking, “base spec? Isn’t that, like, the V6 RS model?” While that may be true for the fifth-gen Camaro, it’s not for the sixth-gen. The new base model sixth-gen will now employ a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder, shared with the ATS.

We have a slight suspicion that this was used as inspiration for the “base spec” Camaro rendering.

This rendering by X-Tomi Design, recently posted on their Facebook page, really defines what a “base spec” sixth-gen Camaro would look like, and like their other renderings we wrote about previously, we think this design would just work.

And if you immediately thought it resembled Toyota’s Japan-only GT86 Base Model, we’re right there with you. Per X-Tomi Design’s Facebook post, “Here is the “barefoot” low cost Chevy Camaro. Unvarnished bumpers, mirrors, door handles, chrome free bodywork, and simple rubber balloon fabric upholstery is equipped.”

Think about it, though. A base spec Camaro would be a great option for customers that might want to build a racecar right off the dealership lot. You wouldn’t have to worry about ripping out any expensive options or ruining any part of the interior. The front and rear bumpers, along with the mirrors and door handles, could be easily wrapped in vinyl to fit whatever livery scheme the car takes on. There are so many possibilities that could come out of Chevrolet building a cheap, no-frills model of the sixth-gen Camaro that it blows our mind.

A drag car, road race performer, drift car, and even a RWD rally machine could be spawned from a simple, base spec Camaro. X-Tomi Design, you guys are on to something with all of your great renderings. Keep it up!
