[1]

Take one ’67 Camaro RS, a fearless driver and navigator and search out the finest race tracks in the country during an eight day, 3,500-mile drive-fest; hauling the entire trip in the cockpit of the ‘Maro…yeah, this sounds like a blast. That’s exactly what James Shipka and co-driver Carl Casanova will be doing. We picked up on the adventure cruising through our favorite website, pro-touring.com [2]. Joining 90 other teams from around the world in what will be the OneLapCamaros third time participating in this one of a kind event.

[3]We apologize for being a bit tardy on this one since it’s already begun but on Saturday, May 5th, the Tire Rack One Lap of America kicked off in South Bend, Indiana. Over the course of the following eight days, this automotive marathon will cover cross-coutnry distance and hit up 21 different race tracks from across the country.

The OneLapCamaro is returning for its third year defending its title as the Vintage America Class Champion. This isn’t about the title, the OLC team is out for blood.

Lucky for Camaro and ChevyHardcore.com fans, James Shipka and Carl Casanova will be updating their journey online through their blog and with live updates via their website. With a detailed map running on the site, live and a constant RSS feed throughout the entire week, we assure you won’t be left out of the loop. Not enough? Facebook fans will rejoice as live updates and posts to current events on the trip will also be posted there as well. Be sure to check out all of the links at the bottom of this news item to keep in touch.

So, why pocket away eight long days with a 3,500 mile road trip in a car that could essentially rattle your teeth out? Well, its all in good fun and for a great cause. [5]This year we will be running the One Lap of America in support of a local charity – the EvenStart Foundation for Children of Calgary.

The EvenStart Foundation’s mandate is “to give at-risk children who are economically disadvantaged, the educational, therapeutic, nutritional, and nurturing supports necessary to gain an ‘even start’ in their lives. Again, you can help raise awareness by checking out its website at the bottom of this posting.

Of course, this wouldn’t be possible with the help of some of our favorite aftermarket heros. Heroes like RideTech, OPTIMA Batteries, HRE Wheels, SpeedTech, Touchstone Exploration, FM3 Performance Marketing, Baer Brakes, Currie Enterprises, Centerforce Clutches, Rick’s Stainless, VaporWorx, Marquez Design, Heighton Restoration, Camaro Performers, Vintage Air and Pozzi Racing.

We look forward to this event every year. We wish the OLC team all the best and a safe journey. We’ll be doing our best to keep you all up to date on the progress of their journey.
