This could possibly be one of the most perplexing custom Camaros you’ve ever seen, so try to stay with us here. For starters, it was built for a new Dreamworks animated movie called Turbo, which is about a snail (the mollusk, not a turbo) and his pursuit of speed. Also, somehow this life-sized supercharged Camaro plays a major role in helping Turbo the animated snail reach his goal of racing in the Indy 500…against humans. (Huh?)
Chevrolet Performance? Doubtful, but the official press release from Chevrolet does say, “Powering this super ride is a supercharged 700+ HP V8 engine with automatic transmission. There is a custom created intake assembly for supercharger housing. The rear exhaust outlets are five-inches in diameter, with two per side.”
If that’s not confusing enough, the car itself is a real head scratcher. The car is sporting ZL1 badges, but we’ve heard from several sources that it’s actually a regular L99/6L80E Camaro SS. However, the pro-street style super charger poking through the COPO hood is supposedly fully functional, and is hands down the coolest part of the build to us. Dare we hope – a future special order part fromWe’ll give them this much – this Camaro’s styling makes it look like it rolled straight out of a cartoon. The car features a wide-body conversion covered with a black chrome wrap, a “GT Concept rear wing spoiler”, and massive 24 x 10 and 24 x 15 wheels. We can’t help but be curious exactly what role this thing plays in the movie. What do you think?
