SEMA-Bound ’72 C10 Is Track-Ready And Looking To Show Off

C-10R10Taking classic cars and retrofitting them as pro-touring vehicles is something we see a lot of these days–midyear Corvettes, 1st-Gen F-Bodies, Mustangs, and more have become commonplace sightings at the track. But how often do we get to see something like this?

Out back, Rob Phillips made his own custom suspension setup.

Allow us to introduce the “C-10R,” presented by Spectre Performance, a 31-year-old veteran in the automotive aftermarket with specialization in the field of air intakes and filtration. Owned by Rob and Brandy Phillips, the truck has gone through an extensive overhaul to get it to its current state, and is now ready to show off at the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

Two years of tinkering, tuning, and trying different things have culminated to bring this C-10 to its greatest potential. It wasn’t until recently that Rob was able to see for himself what his work had meant, as he got to zip around the Adams Motorsports Park in Riverside, California.

Brandy, meanwhile, was more used to the feeling of driving her 2nd-Gen Camaro, but felt the C-10R was a vast improvement over her husband’s other C-10, a 1969 model that sees more use at the fairgrounds than the track. After piloting the C-10R around the course, she said that it made “Rob’s C-10 feel like a piece of crap!”

With the testing phase done, the couple will now be making adjustments to the suspension and loading it up for the Las Vegas Convention Center, where it will display in the Spectre Performance booth. And once the show is over, the fun will extend into Saturday and Sunday as the C-10R makes its way to the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational (OUSCI) at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

We expect this half-ton will be dropping a lot of jaws at that event, and maybe even take home some awards when all is said and done. Find Spectre Performance online and on Facebook for more information on parts, pictures, promotions, and more.
