Seems like the First Gen Camaro is the prodigal son of Chevrolet. Look no further than the current Camaro, reconstituted in the First Gen’s image. Second Gen cars are certainly popular but are usually considered second string to it’s older brother. This Camaro might change all that and as ProTouring.com reports, it’s currently for sale.
Originally a low mile car from Texas, the current owner Raul Lopez purchased it in 2005, brought it to Miami and went to work transforming it into the Pro Touring mega build you see here.
Running a ’88 454 bored 0.30 over and force fed with 8lbs of boost courtesy of ProCharger, the car delivers 644RWHP via a built TH400 and a 12” Chevy rear end with 3.42 gears. The engine is super sanitary in execution and has a laundry list of heavy hitting, high performance speed goodies.
The body’s been smoothed and shaved and aside from the L88 hood, it’s undiluted Second Gen beauty. No scoops, stripes or doodads spoil the Ferrari-inspired lines of this silver Camaro. The car rolls on a set of Intro wheels, 18X7 front and 20X10 rear, wrapped in Nitto rubber 555’S, 22540/18 front and 27535/20 rear. Air Ride Technology front and rear dials in just the right stance.
Inside, the car has a roll bar, custom seats, steering wheel and gauges, but other than that doesn’t stray far from stock. It also can be yours for a mere $55K.
