We got word that Rick’s Tanks was putting together a Vaporworks fuel tank for a Hendrick Motorsports A-Body Racecar. Hendrick Motorsports carries a variety of racecars. From legend cars to ASCA and up to the Sprint Cup series.
Rick’s Fuel Tanks and accessories teamed up with Vaporworks in 2010 to create a high performance fuel tank with OE fuel system features. These systems are compatible with late model returnless style fuel systems that employ OE fuel pickup and pump modules.
The Vaporworks system also makes use of “live” fuel pick-ups – 2 per tank -which open and close depending on where the fuel has moved to inside of the tank while cornering. Our Vaporworks design has proven itself on the long and sweeping curves of the country’s top road racing tracks.
Rick’s Tanks can also build a vaporworks tank for a customer to fit their car or needs. This includes considerations for mounting points, fuel lines and eliminating the need for adding additional regulators and return lines.
Constructing the tank begins by creating a tank body based on the specifications outlined during the build process. Custom tanks are then assembled in a manner similar to a typical production tank.
A custom tank is exactly that, It’s custom! Where a typical production tank that you might order through a mail order catalog or Rick’s authorized retailer might have six to eight hours total build time in it, a custom order can easily have twelve hours or more involved in just the build process.
While we don’t have any clue what Hendrick Motorsports car this fuel tank is going in, but we’re sure that it’s going to be looking for performance.
