There’s nice, and then there’s RK Motors nice. We often browse the muscle car inventory over at the RK Motors website, and it’s something we recommend you only do when you have a few hours of drooling time available. This ’71 Chevelle is a 2009 AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America) National First Prize winner, and it still proudly wears the badge on it’s grille as proof. The thing is though, this is not a real SS. It’s a clone! That being said, we have no problem with clone cars as long as they’re not represented as a Real McCoy numbers matching ride, and this one is represented correctly.
Clone or real, this is one of the nicest ’71 Chevelle SS’s we’ve ever seen. The Cranberry red paint is correct for ’71 and is the original color the Chevelle started life as. All SS upgrades both outside and in have been done to period correct status and leave this as what would have been the top model offered in it’s day. Under the hood is an LS5 454 rated from the factory at 365 horsepower and 465 lb./ft. of torque, and it’s adorned with factory chrome and original OEM style AC plug wires. The LS5 is backed by a close ratio 4-speed Muncie M-21 and a 12-bolt Posi rear end.
Unfortunately even the clone cars don’t come cheap, and this one is priced just a tad under $50,000. Ah well, just consider it an investment!
