For those of us lucky enough to have ever attended a Good Guys Rod & Custom show, it can be difficult to imagine just how much time, energy, and money were sunk into these projects. So you’re a rich car collector who just dropped half-a-million bucks (or more) on a custom car…and you won that trophy you’ve been pining over for decades.

So now what? Obviously, you have to try and sell the money pit of a custom car and at least try to recoup to hundreds of thousands of dollars that went into it. We came across a for sale advertisement for a gold-plated, twin-supercharged custom Camaro from the mid-1980’s for the bargain price of just $55,000.

According to the ad on Mautofied, this car was built by Ed Haney of Lilburn, Georgia, back in the mid-1980’s with one purpose in mind; to win the ISCA circuit of car shows. And in 1986, this 1970 Camaro called “Endless Dream” did just that…at a cost of over $300,000, including $37,000 in gold plating. To put that in perspective, the MSRP of a 1986 Ford Mustang GT was only $11,000. Today, this car would have cost well over a million dollars to build.

Where did all that money go? Well this Camaro is custom front to back, including a real wood interior with wrap-around velour seats and 80’s television setup. But the real money went into the twin-supercharged engine, which has four gold-plated carbs, has been smoothed and polished to perfection, and has only ever been run to meet ISCA rules.

That’s right, this Camaro has not seen the road since the 1980’s. Crazy, right? And at just $55,000 and gold prices what they are today, one has to imagine that there is a LOT of money just sitting in this car…hell, the gold alone would be worth the asking price. Better jump on this one in a hurry boys, it won’t be around long.
