As car guys, we all know, or are at least familiar with the rich history of drag racing. The history defines what many feel are elements of “cool” to this day—the music, the lifestyle, and the cars! The folks at Prolong Super Lubricants are just as “into” the lifestyle, and are preserving that heritage by building a 1955 Chevy 210 four-door Wagon that is a throwback to classic Drag support-vehicles. The Prolong wagon will even feature a classic front push-bar, indicative of 60s support vehicles, as well as accessories, design features and details representative of the era. The people at Prolong have long been supporters of the classic car hobby, so they teamed up with Steve Strope of Pure Vision Design to come up one of the coolest four-door wagons ever.
As one would expect in a “throwback” vehicle, the ’55 is powered by an Edelbrock 350 small-block with EFI, which is then connected to a B&M over-drive transmission. According to Strope, “The Prolong Wagon will be very cool with a tuck and roll pattern stitched by Eric Thorsen on the interior, and a brilliant blue and white pearl PPG exterior by Pete Santini. The car rolls on Vintage-styled Rocket Racing Wheels, and a chassis using parts from Currie and Ride Tech”. Strope finishes with, “Add a sprinkling of hot rod parts from Hedman, Lokar, Painless Wiring and Vintage Air, and you have a detailed ride straight from the track in the 60s.”
But don’t think that this is some pretty face, this ’55 is being built a true working vehicle. Prolong’s ‘55 wagon will make appearances at car shows and other events throughout the country all year long.
“Since we participate in events such as the National Hot Rod Association Museums’ Twilight Cruise series, Hot Rod Reunions, the Boise-Bakersfield Blitz series and similar events, we felt it was fitting that our latest project vehicle pay homage to the glory days of drag racing, musclecars and hot rods,” said Jon Apogée, General Manager of Domestic Sales, Marketing and Motorsports at Prolong Super Lubricants. “The Prolong ’55 Chevy Wagon will be driven to these events, transporting gear for Prolong’s display in true early drag-era style.”
