We recently stumbled upon this little ’70 Nova over on Pro-Touring.com. Pro-Touring is a place where we could get lost for hours and not feel too bad about “lost productivity” since we, as highly trained automotive journalists, must research what the public wants at all times (plus, we dig the cars). This Nova is a perfect example of how to take an already cool car to a new level, all by simply putting some time, effort, and money into the most visible part; the paint.
This Nova started off stout and already had an LS2 backed up by a TKO-600 5-speed. The owner had upgraded the suspension as well with a Speedtech /Chicayne kit with ATS spindles up front and a Chris Alston G-link in the rear.
He reported loving every minute behind the wheel, especially after the LS2 swap, but knew that something was missing. While the silver and black paint scheme was certinaly not untasteful, the plain red that he’s gone with now is a definitely game changer. All of a sudden it’s gone from a cool ’70 Nova to an incredible eye-grabber.
The stainless trim will look outstanding with the red, and we’re amazed at how much the wheels pop against the color change as well. It just goes to show how a little eye candy can go a long way!
