Now Is Your Chance to Own One Of The Fabled ’69 COPO Camaros

COPOThe Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale is regarded as the place to go when looking for the best in classic and custom cars. Each year, records are shattered, and history is made. Chevrolet is known as being a major player at the event, and this year, the auction house is representing the history of the American automaker’s most celebrated and powerful cars. The Scottsdale docket will include what many consider to be the best of the brand – the 1969 COPO Camaro. Lot number 1409 is the 59th of the 69 COPO 9560 high-performance 1969 Camaros built.

“Chevrolet is one of the most popular brands in American history,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “Chevrolet took on the performance market in 1912 with its powerful Series-C Classic Six model, and the company has continued to build on that legacy with some of the most sought-after namesakes on the market, like the Corvette and Camaro. Our 2018 Scottsdale docket will feature many of these models and is a fitting tribute to the incredible impact these cars have had on our country’s rich automotive heritage.”

The COPO is covered in the much-coveted Hugger Orange, and as you would expect, features the requisite all-aluminum 12.0:1 compressed 427ci engine with open-chamber heads. According to documentation, this Camaro is the only ZL1 ordered with a NC8 chambered exhaust.

“Chevrolet’s signature Bow Tie logo has come to represent some of the very best in performance and design,” said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “It’s incredibly rewarding to see the breadth and depth of our Chevy docket mount as we get closer to our Scottsdale Auction. From original survivors to those showcasing the latest in modern performance, there’s no doubt we’ll have the world’s best Chevy models for auction in January.”

It goes without saying that this Camaro is extremely rare, and it features the legendary M22 “Rock Crusher” four-speed transmission. It’s also equipped with transistor ignition, special suspension, heavy-duty radiator, special ducted hood, heavy-duty 4.10 Positraction rearend, power disc brakes, white-letter tires, AM radio, and code-Z21 style trim group.

Even if you’re not ready to purchase this piece of automotive history, you can follow all of the auction excitement on television and see how well this Camaro does when the hammer drops.
